Palakkad in lead

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Palakkad was leading the points table with 36 points on the opening day of the State Police athletics meet at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium here on Monday. Alappuzha (30) and Kozhikode (21) were in the second and third positions respectively.

KAP IV was leading the pack among battalions with 21 points.

The results (winners only): Men: 200m: Jayaraj (Knr); 800m: Sandeep (Knr); 10,000m: Gopinath (KAP IV); 400m hurdles: Ajmal (KAP IV); High jump: Vivek (Alp); Hammer throw: Binoy Thomas (Ktm); Javelin throw: Mohd Hanif (Pkd).

Women: 200m: Parameshwari (Pkd); 800m: Nazeena (Wyd); High jump: Raseena (Kzde); Javelin: Raseena (Kzde).
