Nicole Vaidisova. NEW DELHI: Women’s world No. 41 tennis player, Nicole Vaidisova, is enjoying her break from the game in the off-season before she gets back to action in the new season starting next January. On her first visit to India to attend a few promotional events, Vaidisova, who played her last match of the year against Vera Dushevina of Russia on October 6, said she plans to resume her training and tough fitness regimen next month at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida, before hitting the court. “This is the off-season, so I have come here. I will get back to training in December,” she said here on Monday. On Indian ace Sania Mirza, the Czech star, the first player to win two titles in her rookie year, said, “I have never played with her. But she is a good player. Unfortunately, she is injured now.” The 19-year-old, an avid reader and a part of the ‘Get Caught Reading Campaign,’ will participate in a fashion show here on Tuesday before taking part in a media interaction at the DLTA complex on Wednesday. She will then move to Mumbai for some promotional activities. — Sports Reporter © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
