VISAKHAPATNAM: Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation B. Sridhar, who is conducting surprise visits in different Divisions since he took charge a few days ago, would review whether his instructions were being carried out or not. Mr. Sridhar held a meeting with GVMC officials on Monday to review how his instructions were carried out and said that such a meeting would be held every week and action would be taken against officials and staff who had not carried out his instructions. Quality serviceHe urged the officials to provide quality service to the people and follow the common agenda. Sanitation and water supply must be the priority areas, he added. House owners would be penalised if the debris dumped by them on the road were not cleared. All the trenches and pits causing inconvenience to the road users should be filled up immediately, he said while discussing several works of the GVMC. Dustbin-free driveMr. Sridhar said the dustbin-free programme, started in five Divisions on Monday, was a good concept but a follow-up was necessary. Some more time was needed to provide dustbins to all houses in these Divisions but a propaganda about the scheme must be carried in the streets where dustbins were distributed, he said. Additional Commissioner Pola Bhaskar, City Planner G.V. Raghu, Superintending Engineers V. Chandrayya and Surya Jyoti, Chief Medical Officer Abbulu and other officials attended the review meeting. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
