Ten children in every district to

be felicitated

APCC chief to spend one day in each district from Nov.20

HYDERABAD: The Congress has decided to organise a human chain from Itchapuram to Adilabad, touching the borders of all neighbouring States, soon.

The purpose, date and timing of human chain will be finalised soon, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president D. Srinivas told reporters on Monday after a meeting of the District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents, office-bearers and other members of the PCC.

He said the suggestion on human chain came up at the meeting and it would be discussed with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and senior police officials before finalising the programme. It would most probably be held on a Sunday as 50 to 60 lakh people were likely to be involved in it.

The meeting also decided to celebrate Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversaries on November 14 and 19 respectively in a big way. The DCCs were asked to felicitate at least ten brave children in each district besides serving food in orphanages and children’s homes on November 14. Mr. Srinivas said the DCCs were asked to gear up the party cadre for elections by entrusting them the responsibility of taking government programmes to people.

They should take active part in the drive to provide financial assistance to farmers who did not benefit from the loan waiver scheme of the Central government.

The programme to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on November 19 would go on till November 30. He said that he would spend a day in each district from November 20 to interact with DCC executives and party workers. He would spend four hours with the latter.
