HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is working towards finalising its zonal offices by November 14. In view of the wider jurisdiction that includes several mandals of neighbouring districts, the authority has decided to set up five of these offices to be accessible for citizens of different parts covered by it. On location of the zonal offices, a decision has been made to set up the offices at Kompally, Ghatkesar and Shamshabad while in respect of the remaining two, the final choice will be made in the next few days. One of this will be set up either at Kokapet or at Narsingi, while the last one could be at Sahebnagar. Departments“The buildings to locate the offices are being finalised and the process will be through by Tuesday,” an official said. The zonal offices will have the departments of planning, engineering, environment, administration and coordination and estate. However, the proposed 10 service centres could take some more time. With a structure comprising junior planning officer and assistant engineer among others, these customer services centres are to come up at Chevella, Sangareddy, Narsapur, Shamirpet, Keesara, Bhuvanagiri, Ibrahimpatnam, Pochampally, Maheshwaram and Kothur. For the main corporate office at NAC Complex premises, Madhapur, reports suggest giving the work to the Israel-based group, Yasher Architects. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was given a presentation on the project a couple of days ago. Though the officials did not confirm it, a final decision reportedly had been made on the issue. Initial estimates have been made for more than Rs.50 crore for the head office that is to locate all the wings associated with the body and will be ready in two years time. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
