HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice A.R. Dave and Justice R. Subhash Reddy on Monday admitted a contempt case against Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) K.V. Ramanachary.

The contempt case was filed by Ashok Kumar and others. There was a dispute regarding seniority of senior assistants in the TTD. Based on this seniority, promotions to the post of superintendent were to be effected. There was a dispute pending before the High Court regarding seniority.

A single judge had issued interim orders regarding the seniority. Later the Division Bench suspended the interim orders. The Executive Officer issued orders of promotion based on the seniority prepared as per the single judge’s orders. The petitioners complained that though the Division Bench set aside the orders, the EO followed these orders and hence committed contempt. The Bench admitted the case and ordered notices.
