Man held, jewellery seized

HYDERABAD: An auto driver, who was committing house burglaries for the last five years, was arrested by the city police on Monday.

Gold ornaments weighing 98.5 tolas worth over Rs.12 lakh were also recovered from the possession of the accused Habeeb Ali alias Ali, (27), a resident of Balapur. He was arrested while trying to sell the stolen jewellery at Siddiam Bazaar.

Amazingly, eight out of the nine brothers in the family were property offenders. Some of them were involved in house burglaries, while others were involved in chain snatching cases. Of the eight persons, Yousuf, Hassan, Mahmood, Abbas and Mosin are in jail while others are absconding, the police said.
