Training camp for women inaugurated

Karwar: A one-month camp to provide training for women in embroidery and fashion designing was inaugurated in Deshpande Rural Development and Self Employment Training (RUDSET) Institute on Wednesday.

The Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat is sponsoring the camp which is being conducted under the Suvarna Gramodaya scheme.

Mahalingappa, in-charge executive officer of the Haliyal Taluk Panchayat, who inaugurated the camp, said that B.K. Halli, Arlavada and Yadoga gram panchayats had been selected for the Suvarna Gramodaya scheme.

He called upon women to make best use of such schemes.

Extension officer of the institute, Mundgod, Ganapati Bhat said that women, after getting trained in such arts, could improve the financial status of their family. Anantayya Achar, director of the institute, said that the Suvarna Gramodaya scheme envisaged development of backward villages in the State.

Anita Bolashetty, resource person; Vinayak Chauhan, coordinator of the institute; and Jagadish Pujar, yoga teacher, were present.
