BJP harmed interests of traders, says Agarwal

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president J. P. Agarwal on Thursday claimed that the interests of the business community had always been protected during Congress rule and no other party ever initiated the kind of steps taken by his party for the well-being of the community.

Mr. Agarwal said the traders’ community had seen through the tactics of the BJP and it had made up its mind to defeat the saffron party in the elections.

“It was at the instance of the BJP that some people approached the court on the sealing and demolition issues and further harmed the interests of the business community. Those people are now posing themselves as champions of the community and needed to be exposed,” he added.

Accusing the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi of creating hurdles in implementation of the Master Plan-2021, Mr. Agarwal asserted that it was his party that came out with a special ordinance on the issue to ensure implementation of the provisions of the Master Plan-2021.

“The people of Delhi, especially the business community, got a relief from sealing and demolition drives only because of the efforts of the Congress party,” he said.
