Man gets life term for murder

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Virudhunagar Principal District and Sessions Court on Thursday gave life sentence to an accused in a murder case.

According to the prosecution, A. Mayakannan, had strangulated to death a woman Rukmini (49) of Sakkarajakottai in 2007 and robbed gold jewels and cash from the house.

The Rajapalayam South police had arrested the accused.

When the case came up for hearing, the Judge, V. Balasundarakumar, found him guilty on three counts.

He sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment for the murder and pay a total fine of Rs. 2,000.
