TIRUPATI: K. Lokeswara Varma, general secretary, AP Municipal Ministerial Employees’ Association, has said that salaries and pension to the staff working in about 40 municipalities in the State were not paid for the last three to six months. MemorandumHe highlighted the problem in a memorandum submitted to the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration, Andhra Pradesh, Sunil Sharma at the Tirupati airport on Friday as he arrived on an official visit. Mr Varma also represented to Mr Sharma that though it was now nearly two months since the Chief Minister promised to ensure the payment of salaries and pension to municipal employees in the State through the government treasury, the G.O in this behalf was yet to be released. He also urged Mr Sharma to prevail upon the government to approve the revised staffing pattern in the municipalities upgraded as corporations and in the newly carved out municipalities, in accordance with the agreement reached at the negotiations. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
