CHENNAI: Epilepsy Institute and Centre for Treatment, Training, Research and Education (EPICENTTRE) will conduct an awareness programme for schoolteachers on Saturday. The event, ‘Epiwareness 2008,’ will focus on bringing people with epilepsy “out of the shadows” said Prithika Chary, the centre’s director. In a run-up to the event the centre had conducted an essay contest on ‘epilepsy in children and its socio-psycho implications’ for the city’s schoolteachers. The winners of the contest will be presented prizes and the author of the best essay would be invited to speak about epilepsy. Educationists would be invited to speak on their experience in handling children with epilepsy in their schools. The awareness programme will include film shows and on the spot skits by participants. Children will also speak about their experience on the occasion. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
