Four-member gang arrested Crime notes

BANGALORE: The H.S.R. Layout police arrested a four-member gang allegedly involved in murders and robberies in the city.

The police on Thursday arrested Mohammed Ghouse (22) of Whitefield, Amjad Pasha (25) of Attibele, Mohammed Asif (22) and Maqsood Khan (32), both from Mangammanapalya. They were caught while allegedly preparing to rob people on Sarjapur Road.

According to the police, Ghouse and his accomplice were involved in the murder of a liquor shop security guard, Narasimha Singh (31), from whom they robbed Rs. 10,000.

The accused strangled Singh, a native of Orissa, and looted cash from Madhura Loka shop on November 30.

Two days later, they robbed a software engineer of Rs. 91,000.

“They admitted to committing two other robberies for which no complaint has been filed,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police S.V. Guled.

The police recovered Rs. 42,000. “They have spent the money on repaying debts and also for video games,” he said.

Recovered

The HAL Airport police arrested Venkatesh Reddy (22) and Arun (24) for their alleged involvement in stealing credit cards. The police recovered eight mobile phones, a gold chain and a gold ring that were bought using the stolen credit cards.

Arrested

The Peenya police arrested Manjula, an actor, for her alleged involvement in a robbery. The police said Manjula along with eight others allegedly gagged film director Rajveer’s wife and children at their house and made away with cash and gold ornaments on October 14.

The Peenya police arrested Manjula on the basis of the statements by four people who had been arrested earlier. The police recovered Rs. 60,000 from her.

Murdered

An employee of a weighbridge was found murdered on Friday. He has been identified as Shivaraj (34). He was a native of Turuvekere in Tumkur district.

“Multiple stab injuries were found on his chest and neck. The miscreants had looted cash from the weighbridge,” the Peenya police said.
