Hithendran’s mother felicitated
| She will meet Governor to seek strict adherence to helmet rule |

TAMBARAM: Pushpanjali Ashokan, mother of A.P.Hithendran, whose organs were donated after he was declared brain dead following a road accident, was felicitated by the students of Government High School in Otteri, a suburb near Vandalur.
Participating in the school’s Children’s Day event, Dr. Pushpanjali said she accepted the invitation because the function involved meeting students.
In her brief speech, she said along with her husband A. Ashokan, she was trying to create awareness on the importance of eye and organ donation.
Stating that she would soon be meeting Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Dr. Pushpanjali said she would appeal to him to press for the strict implementation of the rule making it mandatory for two-wheeler riders to wear helmets.
A portrait of Hithendran was unveiled on the occasion. S. Aramudhan, president of Vandalur Village Panchyat and Meenakshi Sundaram, Headmaster of the school, were present.
