KOCHI: Gold will add extra glitter to the second edition of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival being planned in various parts of the State between December 1 and January 15. The launch of the registration for the festival has seen enthusiastic response from the trade and business and to avoid the rush, the Industries Department has opened online registration facilities. Forty kilograms of gold will be given in prizes during the festival, lasting a month-and-a-half. The organisers of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) have zoomed in on gold considering the inconvenience caused to winners of grand prizes like a BMW car in the last edition of the festival. The festival also offers much better range of prizes this time as the entire State has been divided into three zones for the scratch-and-win prizes. The grand prizes will come in addition to the winners of the first, second and third prizes in each of the zones during the six weeks of the shopping festival. The mega prizes will include 5 kg of gold in first prize and half-a-kg of gold each to nine persons in the second prize. The traders will also be picked for prizes. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
