BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has announced that the Government will institute this year Kanakadasa Award for outstanding contribution on the life and literature of the 16th century saint-composer. The Chief Minister, who inaugurated the Kanakadasa Jayanti celebrations in front of the Vidhana Soudha on Saturday, said the Government would give the award-winner Rs. 5 lakh. The Government had declared a holiday on Saturday to mark the Kanakadasa Jayanti.
