Tiruchi meets Dindigul in title clash

CHENNAI: Tiruchi will play Dindigul in the final of the T.P. Ramaswamy Cup under-19 State junior football championship at the Ajeya Stadium, Avadi on Sunday.

Fine goal

In the second semifinal on Saturday, a fine goal by striker Dhameen Ansari helped Tiruchi edge Madurai 1-0.

Watched by a good gathering, the contest went on an even keel for much of the first session until the defining moment came at the stroke of half-time.

Long-range effort

Ansari collecting the ball from well into the Madurai half fired a 20-yard long-ranger that beat goalkeeper Aravind hands down.

Tiruchi ensured that the small lead remained the winning margin till the final whistle.
