Advani launches Malhotra’s website

NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leader L. K. Advani on Saturday launched a brand new website of the party’s Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, at the Delhi BJP headquarters.
The site – www.vkmalhotra.in -- has been designed by Prof. Malhotra’s daughter Anupama Malik who is a research scholar at IIT Delhi and his niece Medha Malhotra who is a student of the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad.
Recalling his long association with Prof. Malhotra who, he said, did “all my work in Parliament”, Mr. Advani said he had known him ever since he came to Delhi in 1957. “As Jan Sangh workers we saw the organisation grow and take the shape of BJP.
Terming the Internet as a creation that would rank in the top along with the wheel and electricity, Mr. Advani said it was late in the 20th Century that this invention showed its importance. “And BJP and Jan Sangh have always embraced new technology with open arms. In fact BJP was among the first parties to launch its website about ten years ago,” he recalled.
Making a mention of how his own website that was launched about a week ago had already drawn a good response and suggestions to create a “manifesto”, Mr. Advani said it was important to tap into the potential of the Internet which unlike other mediums of communication provides for a two-way dialogue.
The BJP leader said that “in the website Anupama has presented Prof. Malhotra’s vision for Delhi also”. This was a good move as to many, including the foreigners, the Capital city represents the country. As it is, Mr. Advani said, Delhi has grown into a “miniature India”. He also emphatically declared that Prof. Malhotra would be able to deliver on the expectations of growth and security of all the citizens, no matter which part of the country they came from.
Ms. Anupama on her part said the idea behind the initiative was “to connect to more fellow citizens and even netizens”. The site, she said, provides a deep insight into the Delhi Assembly elections as also Prof. Malhotra’s vision for the city. “It would also have day-to-day updates and press releases to inform everyone about the ongoing campaign.”
Noting that the website would inform people about Mr. Malhotra’s outlook, Ms. Anupama said the site also had a section on senior party leaders as well as links to other important websites.
“My father is my ideal and a great motivation for me and others. This site is all about his vision and philosophy and shows that he is a man of many parts,” she said, adding that his motto that “there are no short-cuts to success and miracles are culmination of persistence efforts” had also been listed therein.
The site urges people to “let us redefine our freedom together” and talks about providing the people of Delhi “freedom from corruption, inflation, traffic congestions, terror, power cuts and water problems”.
