Varanasi: A low-intensity crude bomb went off near a Mazar at Beniyabagh here on Saturday. There was no casualty. Police suspected it to be a sequel to a dispute between two groups over the land on which the shrine is located. SSP (Varanasi) Vijay Prakash told PTI that a low intensity blast using the crude bomb usually seen during Diwali took place near the wall of the disputed Mazar of Shahid Baba at Beniyabagh area under Chetganj police station limits of the city. He said that there was a dispute between two sides in the area. — PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
