Corporation office siege

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The opposition Congress party in Kochi Corporation will lay siege to the corporation office on Monday under the aegis of the District Congress Committee demanding the resignation of the corporation leadership that has come under fire from courts time and again.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate and DCC president V.J. Paulose will preside.

Opposition leader in the Kochi Corporation, A.B. Sabu, said that the order of the Ombudsman for local self-government bodies criticising the failure of the corporation to perform its basic functions was a testimony of the administrative failure of the municipal body, a release issued here on Saturday said.

The Mayor’s claim that payment of dues to the Andhra Pradesh Technology Development Centre was being withheld on account of non-completion of the solid waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram had proved the opposition allegation that the construction of the plant was yet to be completed, Mr. Sabu said.
