Yashas Chandra in lead

CHENNAI: Yashas Chandra of Mysore and Abhinav Suresh of Chennai played their way through heavy wind and testy roughs to lead the ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories respectively on day one of the MGC Indotech South Zone junior golf tournament, here on Saturday.

Both Yashas and Suresh stroked 18-over par to end the day at 88 to set things up for an interesting final day on Sunday.

In category ‘C’, Chennai’s Shivnaren Srinivasan led the way with a 13-over par 83.

Surya Kumar of Conoor led category ‘D’ with a 15-over par 85.

The standings (day one):

Category ‘A’: 1. Yashas Chandra (88) & Abinav Suresh (88); Category ‘B’: 1. Yashas Chandra (88), 2. Syed Saqib Ahmed (89).

Category ‘C’: 1. Shivnaren Srinivasan (83), 2. Karan Arjun (85); Category ‘D’: 1. Surya Kumar (85), 2. Harshath (91).
