New Delhi: The Election Commission on Sunday conveyed its displeasure to BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate V. K. Malhotra over the issue of violation of model code of conduct during filing of his nomination papers, saying that it was “not satisfied” with his reply on the issue. The Commission has found the reply filed by the BJP leader on the EC notice as “not satisfactory”, official sources said here. When contacted, Mr. Malhotra said that he stood by what he had said in his reply to the EC notice. “That is the exact position. I don’t know who all were there when I filed my nomination. It is for the police to find out,” Mr. Malhotra told PTI. After taking note of media reports that a large number of people were present at the time of filing of his papers, the Commission sent a notice to Mr. Malhotra on November 10 seeking explanation from him for “violating” the model code of conduct. -- PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
