Bagan blanks JCT Mills

KOLKATA: A 10-man Mohun Bagan beat JCT Mills 2-0 recording its third successive win in an eighth-round match of the I-League football here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday.

Mohun Bagan, which remained winless in the first five matches, bettered its position in the league table picking up full points in its last three outings — against holder Dempo, Churchill Brothers and JCT. Bagan went into the lead in the 14thminute when forward Ishfaq Ahmed nodded the ball home off a JamesSingh provision. The host doubled the lead in the 30th minute though a penalty, which was scored by its Brazilian striker Jose Barreto. Baganwas reduced to 10 men minutes before the halftime when its stopper-back Peter Odafe received his second booking.

Bagan defended well in the second session and preserved the scoreline against an unsure opposition attack.— Principal Correspondent
