Collingwood ready to play IPL, but…

Indore: Paul Collingwood expressed his desire to play in the Indian Premier League as long as it does not clash with his schedule as an England player.

“I would like to play in the IPL if it doesn’t come in the way of me playing for England. For me the priority is the ‘Three Lions’ (England team badge).

“The benefits of the IPL are huge, so if there is a window I would like to play but if it leads to things like cancelling a series, we wouldn’t want that,” Collingwood told the media here on Sunday.

The former England captain also said the player contracts had not yet been signed. “I don’t know why they haven’t sent our contracts yet. I think that’s an issue between the Professional Cricketers’ Association and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

“Last year we signed our contracts in January so you can read what you want to read but I don’t think there is any issue as such with the IPL or anything like that. I just think it’s a delay,” he said. — Principal Correspondent
