NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party’s chief ministerial candidate Vijay Kumar Malhotra and its Delhi unit president Harsh Vardhan have expressed grave shock over the untimely death of three-time MLA Puran Chand Yogi, the party’s candidate from Rajendra Nagar for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls. In a statement, the senior leaders said the death of Mr. Yogi was a big loss to the BJP. He was elected MLA three times in a row since 1993. He was very popular in the constituency, they said, adding that he was a dedicated and faithful worker of the party. BJP candidate from New Delhi Vijay Jolly immediately suspended his campaigning on Sunday after hearing about the death of Mr. Yogi.Describing Mr. Yogi as a committed leader of his party, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday expressed her grief and condolences over his demise. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
