Karwar: A three-day training camp for MLAs and MLCs with the help of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, from December 13, in Bangalore, Legislative Council Chairman Veeranna Mathikatti said here on Monday.

He told presspersons that the sessions of the Leislative Assembly and the Legislative Council should be held for a minimum of 60 days in a year. This had been brought to the notice of the ruling party in the State. This would help bring in reforms in the administration and allow scrutiny of development work. Such a move would foil the attempt of bureaucrats who try to project that the economic targets of the year had been achieved during the end of the financial year, he said.

About classical language status being given to Kannada, Mr. Mathikatti said a function would be held in front of Vidhana Soudha to honour all people who struggled hard to achieve this status. Legendary Hindustani singer Bhimsen Joshi would be honoured at this function. Important persons from all walks of life would be invited to this function.

He and Legislative Assembly speaker Jagadish Shettar had chalked out a programme for the development of North Karnataka, and the road map of the development would be published soon, he added.
