PUDUCHERRY: Secretary of Puducherry unit of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam A. Anbalagan on Monday appealed to Lieutenant Governor Govind Singh Gurjar to immediately convene the Assembly to discuss financial issues. Criticising the territorial government for not getting the approval of the Legislative Assembly in diverting funds from departments to meet the financial commitment under plan and non-plan schemes, he said that the administration had violated all laid out procedures. The party wanted the Lieutenant Governor to immediately convene the Assembly to discuss the issue. He also said that it had become a practice for the government to approach the Assembly for its approval after spending the money. On the implementation of Special Component Plan (SCP) , Mr. Anbalagan said that though the Social Welfare Minister had informed that a sum of Rs.258 crore had been earmarked for taking up various schemes under SCP, it was yet to take off. The government should immediately make public the programmes taken up under the SCP programme, he said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
