Focus on unity: A student addressing the National Integration Day meeting at Sourashtra Coeducational Higher Secondary School; (below) Winners of roller skating events of Vikaasa School

Students of higher classes delivered speeches on topics such as ‘India, a holy land’ and ‘Unity in diversity’ when National Integration Day was observed at the Sourashtra Coeducational Higher Secondary School. B. R. Arangaraman, Headmaster, explained to students the values cherished by the country, its Five- Year Plans and achievements in industry and agriculture. He also highlighted the importance of unity in diversity. K. K. Rajan proposed a vote of thanks.

Students of Ruby Matriculation Higher Secondary School — M. S. Monisha and I. Vijayakumar — won the first and second prizes at the regional karate competitions organised by BMC Matriculation School in Tuticorin. Schools from Madurai, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar and Kanyakumari districts participated in the competitions.

Students of Vikaasa School won several prizes at the Anna centenary roller skating competitions conducted by the Madurai Roller Skating Association. About 500 students from all over the State participated in the competitions such as roller skating hockey.
