Rare trees felled

KOLKATA: Over 100 rare trees have been chopped down in the Botanical Survey of India garden at Shibpur in Howrah district reportedly as part of a development programme, prompting an inquiry by the West Bengal government.

Forest Minister Ananta Roy said, “I have asked the Chief Conservator of Forests to inquire into it.” — PTI
