Kakinada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped Roads and Buildings executive engineer (highways) B. Mallikarjuna Rao when he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a petrol bunk owner A. Venkatadri here on Tuesday. Rao allegedly demanded the bribe to give permission to Mr. Venkatadri to lay a path to his sales outlet, which was rendered inaccessible due to some road repair works. The issue was going on for a couple of months and the complainant approached the ACB as the R&B official refused to clear his proposal without being paid for it. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
