Weaver presents Chiru a silk sari who promises to present it to his mother as a gift from weavers

DHARMAVARAM: Monday’s visit of Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi to the weavers’ town of Dharmavaram as part of his ‘Praja Ankitha Yatra’ in the district was not just an exercise of winning over the hearts of thousands by a party president, but it was also an opportunity for a son to fulfil his mother’s decades old wish.

Chiranjeevi went down memory lane to his childhood days and turned emotional when a weaver presented him with a silk sari during the road show attended by a huge crowd by all standards in the town. “My visit to you has not only provided me an opportunity to meet you and win over your hearts as a politician but has also helped me fulfil my mother’s decades-old wish,” he told the cheering crowd.

He narrated that his mother wanted a Dharmavaram silk sari and asked his father to purchase one for her. But, as his father’s income was meagre he convinced his mother that he could not afford to get one whenever his financial position allowed him so. As the time passed by, she had forgotten her wish and it remained unfulfilled till date. His mother did not asked for the sari in the later stages of their life, even when his father was in a position to buy one.

Chiranjeevi thanked the weaver who presented him with the silk sari and told the crowd that he would present it to his mother as a gift of weavers of Dharmavaram.
