Standstill: DYFI activists blocking road traffic in Malappuram on Tuesday as part of a nationwide agitation demanding slashing of petrol prices. MALAPPURAM: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists brought vehicular traffic to a standstill at 29 centres in the district as part of their nation-wide agitation demanding slashing of the prices of petroleum products. DYFI district secretary K.P. Anil led the protest at Kottappady here. DYFI district president V.P. Anil Kumar led the protest at Parappanangadi. The other centres where traffic was blocked from 5 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. were Manjeri, Edavanna, Perinthalmanna, Tirur, Karuvarakundu, Valanchery, Vailathur, Ponnani, Edappal, Nilambur, Chungathara, Tanur, Tanalur, Puthanathani, Puthanathani, Wandoor, Kozhikkottuparamba, Makkaraparamba, Melattur, Kolathur, Edavannappara, Edakkara, Kalikavu, Pattikkad, Veliyamkode, and Changaramkulam. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
