Bus mows down 2 students

Grief-stricken: Friends and relatives of 13-year-old Manasa at the Government Hospital in Sangareddy. –

SANGAREDDY: Two girl students were killed and four injured when a school bus knocked them down at Peddapur village in Sadasivapet mandal on Tuesday.

According to Sadasivapet SI G. Venkateswarlu, the students were waiting to board a bus to go to Sangareddy when a private bus belonging to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan lost control and ran over them while trying to save the life of a girl, Divya, who suddenly crossed the road.

The six girls, including Divya, were severely injured and two of them – Navaneeta (17), an Intermediate student, and Manasa (13) of Saraswathi Sishumandir - died on their way to a hospital in Hyderabad. The condition of another student, Seema (13), of Urdu Government School is stated to be serious and she was referred to Gandhi Hospital. The driver of the bus is absconding. The Sadasivapet police registered a case and are investigating.

Chandrika, a class VIII student of Saraswati Sishumandir, who was injured in the accident, is being treated at the Government Hospital in Sangareddy.
