Ambedkar varsity launches programme

NEW DELHI: Ambedkar University, Delhi, launched its first academic programme -- a post-graduate diploma in Development Studies -- on Monday.The programme has been developed in collaboration with the Council for Social Development and is aimed at preparing development professionals with social concerns.

“The diploma will give placement possibilities in development organisations, government bodies, banks, international agencies, corporate firms and teaching and research institutions,” said an official release.

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university with minimum 50 per cent marks are eligible to apply for the course. Application forms can be purchased from the office of the Council for Social Development at Lodhi Estate and can also be downloaded from the University website www.aud.ac.in .

Last date

The last date for submitting applications is December 17. Admission will be on the basis of a written exam and interview. Classes will begin in January 2009.

Ambedkar University was established through an Act passed by the Delhi Assembly. It is a unitary university and is mandated to focus its teaching and research activities in social sciences and humanities.
