Helen Keller Awards announced

NEW DELHI: The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) has announced the winners of the tenth NCPEDP-Shell Helen Keller Awards.

The annual awards honour individuals and companies working to ensure equal opportunities for people with disabilities at their workplace. They also acknowledge differently-abled people who have become role models for the community by not allowing their disabilities to become a handicap.The award winners in the Best Employers category this year are: Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited, IBM India Private Limited, ITC Welcome Group, Mphasis, EDS Company, Noida Deaf Society, and PepsiCo India Holding Private Limited.

The winners in the Role Models (disabled persons) category are: Atul Ranjan Sahay (Jharkhand), Hari Raghvan (Mumbai), S. Amuthashanthy (Madurai) and Shivani Gupta (Delhi).

The awards in the Role Models (non-disabled role model supporter of increased employment opportunities for disabled people) category were bagged by Dr. Radhika Khanna and Shilpi Kapoor from Mumbai. The award presentation ceremony will be held in New Delhi on December 2 on the eve of World Disability Day.
