Accused in Bhatkal riots arrested in Mumbai

Karwar: The Bhatkal police with the help of a Mumbai police team arrested an accused who was allegedly responsible for the death of three persons during the communal riots in Bhatkal 15 years ago. The arrested person is identified as Jailani Abu Ahmad Kharuri (40) of Takia Street, Bhatkal. With him, another person Abubakar Siddiq Mohmad Gouse, who was wanted by the police in a counterfeit currency case, has also been arrested. The two were staying in a rented house at Bendi Bazaar in JJ Police Station limits in Mumbai. On information, Bhatkal police raided the house with the help of the Mumbai police and arrested them early on Sunday. They have been brought to Bhatkal.

Jailani is an accused in the killing of three persons Manjunath Mogera, Manjunath Erappa Mogera and Shankar Mogera during the Bhatkal riots at Mundalli near Bhatkal.
