BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) and the State Government will organise a two-day regional conference of southern States on “Initiatives on supporting the national rural employment guarantee scheme through State legal services authorities”. Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan will inaugurate the conference on November 22. He will dedicate a mobile Lok Adalat and legal literacy chariot to the people of the State on the occasion. Chairman of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority V. Gopala Gowda, Chairman of the High Court Legal Services Authority K.L. Manjunath and Justice Nagmohan Das spoke on various aspects of employment guarantee scheme and the responsibility of the legal services authority in ensuring that the State implemented the scheme. They said that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Supreme Court judges Arjit Pasayat, R.V. Raveendran and P. Sathasivam, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court P.D. Dinarakan, Kerala High Court Chief Justice Dattu, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu N. Ram, Governor Rameshwar Thakur, and Law Minister Suresh Kumar would attend the conference. They said that the mobile lok adalat was built by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation and it would be used to spread legal literacy.
