Autorickshaw driver murdered Crime Notes

BANGALORE: Ten persons murdered a 28-year-old autorickshaw driver in Malegalu in Jnanabharati police station limits on Tuesday morning.

According to the police, the victim, Mahesh, who resided with his family in Janata Colony, usually parked his vehicle near a grocery shop and waited for passengers. While he was waiting on Tuesday morning, Mahesh saw about 10 people coming towards him on five motorcycles. He started running but the motorists followed him and assaulted him using machetes and rods. Mahesh died on the spot. Mahesh’s father, Madaiah, has filed a complaint with the Jnanabharati police. The police suspect the attack to have been done by persons seeking revenge for the murder of S.T.D. Kumar, which occurred ten months ago. Mahesh and his brother, Vinay, were among persons arrested by the Girinagar police. While Mahesh was released on bail, his brother Vinay is still in judicial custody.

The Jnanabharati police are searching for the accused.

Assaulted

A 30-year-old small-time financer was critically injured following an attack by six men in Vittal Nagar 3rd Stage on Tuesday. The police said M. Harish (30), a resident of K.R. Puram, was pestering his friend Chandra, a washerman, to return his mobile phone. Chandra, who resides in Gavipuram Guttahalli, called Harish to Vittal Nagar. Harish and two of his friends arrived at Vittal Nagar in an autorickshaw. Chandra and his five accomplices allegedly attacked Harish with machetes. Harish has been admitted to a private hospital. The Chamarajapet police are searching for the accused.

Theft

Two men on a motorcycle stole a bag containing cash and gold jewellery belonging to a woman who was leaving a bank in Sanjay Nagar on Tuesday. The police said Anuradha, a resident of RMV 2nd Stage, went to Vijaya Bank’s branch in Sanjay Nagar to deposit jewellery worth Rs. 1 lakh in the locker. But the bank authorities asked her to return on Wednesday. She withdrew Rs. 50,000 from her account, and began walking back home. The two men snatched her bag and ran away. The Sanjay Nagar police have registered a case.
