Goa film fete to open with ‘The Warlords’

PANAJI: The 39th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will open on Saturday evening with the film ‘The Warlords,’ directed by renowned Hong Kong film-maker Peter Chan.

Director of Film Festivals (DFF) S. M. Khan, accompanied by Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat told journalists here on Tuesday that the festival will close on December 22 with the screening the Iranian film ‘The song of the sparrows,’ directed by Majid Majidi.

Iran is the country focus of IFFI 2008.

“Films from Asia, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Africa will for the IFFI awards that will be selected by a jury headed by Peter Chan,” Mr. Khan said.
