FCI (TN) in semifinals

HYDERABAD: Tamil Nadu which beat AP but lost to Kerala qualified for the semifinals of the Food Corporation of India’s South Zone inter-regional cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

In the semifinals Tamil Nadu will clash with FCI Zonal office while AP will meet Karnataka.

The results: FCI AP 116 for six bt FCI Kerala 99 for seven.

FCI AP 115 for three (Janaki Ram 50) lost to FCI Tamil Nadu 118 for five (K. Ravi 31).

FCI Tamil Nadu 83 for six lost to FCI Kerala 84 for seven (Ravi three for six).

Zonal Office 120 for eight (Venkateswaran 53, Raja Rajan 32, Deviprasad three for 22) bt FCI Karnataka 49 (Kamal Kannan four for 10).

Rukmani wins gold

K.K. Rukmani Ammal of NAARM Hyderabad won the gold in the women’s discus throw in the ICAR inter-zonal athletic championships.

The results (winners only): Women: 100m: M.V. Valsala (CMFRI Cochin), Discus: K.K. Rukmani (NAARM Hyderabad). Men: Javelin: Sumer Katoch (CAZRI Jodhpur), Long jump: Uma Sankar Das (CRIJAF Barrackpore).

Prateek triumphs

Prateek Srivastav won the title in the Ranga Reddy District under-25 chess championship by beating Pratyush Srivastav in a tie-breaker after both finished with five points at the end of the tournament.

The results: 1.Prateek Srivastav, 2. Pratush Srivastav (5 points each), 3. R. Aneesh (4), 4. Sudheer Kumar (4) , 5. N. Thejaswi Reddy (4).

Age group prizes: Boys: U-7: S.S.V. Adittya and Vaibhav, U-9: G.V. Sai and Yeshwanth Reddy, U-11: V. Nithin, U-13: Thejaswi Reddy, U-15: Venkatram, U-17: Naveen and Daxith, U-19: A. Aditya and Kushi Kumar.

Girls: U-11: T. Vigna, U-13: G. Pojitha, U-15: Tanuja, U-17: Akhila

CCOB victorious

City College Old Boys (CCOB) defeated Bolarum Sporting 1-0 in the SAAP-Budweiser Premier league football tournament. Ahmed Bin Husain scored in the 19th minute.

Aurora College wins

Aurora College beat Rahimpura playground 31-14 in the annual league championship being conducted by the Hyderabad District Basketball Association.

It was announced that due to the inter-districts tournament at Anantapur, further league matches will resume on Nov 26.

The results: Aurora College 31 (Vijay 14, Nirav 10) bt Rahimpura PG 14.
