Set for shifting: The office of 15 Velampalayam municipality in Tirupur functioning on a cramped premises is all set to move to a new complex soon. — Tirupur: Life of people residing at 15 Velampalayam municipality is to become more comfortable, as the municipal administration plans to improve basic amenities and other infrastructure at an outlay of Rs 1.29 crore. Speaking to The Hindu, S.P. Mani, chairman of 15 Velampalayam municipality, said that the works were expected to commence this financial year itself. As part of the project, A.V. Palanisamy Road connecting Angeripalayam with Tirupur-Avinashi highway would be strengthened. Another Rs. six lakh would be utilised to upgrade the 500-metre long road in front of the office of the Village Administrative Officer. Mr. Mani said that administration would move the municipal office to a new complex planned to be established at Sandhaipettai at Rs. 50 lakh. “The vegetable market functioning at Sandhaipettai will be relocated to Bharatiar shopping centre to facilitate the establishment of municipal office complex,” Mr. Mani said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
