Arun Deva stars for Gowtham MS

HYDERABAD: R. Arun Deva scored 180 (19x4, 2x6) to help Gowtham Model School register a 100-run win over St. Paul’s High School in the inter-school (under-14) cricket tournament organised by the HCA on Wednesday.

The scores: Gowtham Model School 281 for three (R. Arun Deva 180, Vishu Chaitanya 45 n.o.) bt St. Paul’s 181 (Abhinay 68, Sandeep three for 30, Nandu three for 30, Sai Charan three for 30).

‘A’ Division two-day matches: Kosaraju CC 96 (G. Karthik four for nine) lost to Osmania University 97 for four.

‘C’ Division: Universal 202 (Krishna five for 40) bt CK Blues 182 (Krishna 45).

FCI Zonal Office won the title in the Food Corporation of India’s South Zone inter-regional cricket tournament on Wednesday.

In the final it defeated FCI Karnataka by four wickets with one ball to spare.

The scores: Final: FCI Karnataka 120 for eight in 20 overs lost to FCI Zonal Office 124 for six in 19.5 overs (Venkateshwaran 48, Raja Rajan 32 n.o.).

Semifinals: FCI Andhra Pradesh 119 for five in 20 overs (Govardhan 42) lost to FCI Karnataka 120 for eight in 15.4 overs; FCI Zonal office 138 for six in 20 overs (Zakuruddin 37) bt FCI Tamil Nadu 136 for eight in 20 overs (Yogesh 39, Suresh Kumar 36).

South Central Railway thrashed Hyderabad Sporting 7-0 in the SAAP-Budweiser Trophy football tournament. Moazzam (3), Azim (2) and Nidhi and Vijay Kumar (one each) were the scorers. On Thursday, EME will clash with SBI.

Coronation Club beat Boys Union 5-2 in the GHMC annual hockey tournament.

Rajesh and Arjun scored two goals each and Satish one for the winner, while Karthikeyan and Arun Benjamin scored for Boys Union.

In another match Mohammedan Sporting beat GHMC Chintalbasti 2-0. Both the goals were scored by Quarram.

St. Patrick’s College (Nallakunta) won the Osmania University inter-collegiate ball badminton tournament beating OU College of Science 29-12, 29-14.

P.G. College of Science was third beating Nizam College 29-12, 29-15.

The Hyderabad Hockey Association’s ‘B’ Division league championship will be conducted from December 2.

All ‘B’ division teams are instructed to register or renew their players’ identity cards before the commencement of the tournament.

Tamil Nadu under-19 girls won the junior National football title for the first time when they beat Orissa 2-1 in the final in Gurgaon on Wednesday.

Only the other day in the quarterfinal league had Orissa inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Tamil Nadu but the whole scenario changed in the title round.

According to information provided by Renukalakshmi, the AIFF women’s coordinator, Chiranciyal gave Tamil Nadu the lead in the 15th minute and then in the second minute of second half, skipper Kalpana consolidated the position.

Orissa scored midway through but Tamil Nadu ensured there was no further let up.
