Bangalore: The shortfall in power has been attributed to increase in the demand and failure to increase the generation. The demand is said to have grown at 20 per cent. While the State’s generation capacity is 8,425 MW, the shortfall is around 1,500 MW. The allocation for Bescom is around 2,200 MW. Tushar Girinath, Bescom Managing Director, said the utility was drawing excess power from the grid and the availability was around 2,350 MW. “We are managing with the power available,” he said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
