BANGALORE: The former Mysore Police Commissioner and Inspector-General of Police (Administration) P. Ravindranath on Wednesday submitted his resignation after his leave application was rejected. Dr. Ravindranath had applied for leave to see his ailing mother. When the request was turned down, a miffed Dr. Ravindranath submitted his resignation to Additional Director-General of Police (Administration) B.E. Umapathy. “I got to know about it. I would not like to comment before I personally look into the reasons,” said Director-General and Inspector-General of Police R. Sri Kumar. Mr. Sri Kumar is in Chickmagalur overseeing the police operation against naxalites. Dr. Ravindranath, who was recently transferred from Mysore, did not share good equations with Mr. Umapathy. His resignation was stated to be the fallout of his frustration of working in the Administration Wing that looks among others into the transfer of police officers. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
