Elaborate arrangements for ‘Guru Peyarchi’

THANJAVUR: Elaborate arrangements have been made by the district administration to help devotees who come to Sri Vasishteswaraswamy Temple at Thittai near Thanjavur for Guru Peyarchi which takes place on December 6. The temple has a separate sannidhi for Guru Bhagawan, .

Collector M.S. Shanmugham held discussion with officials regarding the preparation for the event. He said that it is expected that one lakh people might come to Thittai on December 6 and 7. It is also expected that from December 8 to 14, an additional one lakh people might come to the temple.

Last year 1.5 lakh visited Thittai for ‘Guru Peyarchi.’

The Collector asked officials to make arrangements to regulate the devotees and help them to have a comfortable darshan.

He asked the police to make adequate bandobust arrangements.

“NCC cadets and members of voluntary organisations can be involved in regulating crowd,” the Collector said. Protected drinking water should be supplied and Public Health department should provide twenty-four hours medical facility.

He said that transport corporation should operate special buses from Thanjavur and Kumbakonam and asked the TNEB should provide uninterrupted power supply.

Peyarchi

Guru Bhagawan moves from Dhanusu rasi to Mahara rasi. This is good for those who are born in Dhanusu, Kadaga, Rishapam, and Meena rasis. Those who are born in Maharam, Viruchigam, Thulam, Simha Mithunam, Mesham and Kumbam should do pariharam.

According to T. Govindaraj, Executive Officer of the temple, the first phase of the ‘laksharchanai’ would be held on November 27 and end with Guru Peyarchi. The second phase would be held on December 13 and 14.

Devotees could take part in the ‘laksharchanai’ by paying Rs.150. ‘Parihara homams’ would be done from December 19 to 22. Devotees could do pariharams by paying Rs.300.

Those who could not take part in he ‘laksharchanai’ or ‘parihara homams’ in person could send the amount Money Order or Demand Draft to Executive Officer, Sri Vasishteswarar Temple, Thittai, Thanjavur. Cell: 94434-45864.

Devotees should mention their names, rasi and natchthiram along with the Money Order or Demand Draft.
