Driver murdered

A lorry driver, G. Satyanarayana (45) was murdered at an open place off Miyapur-Bachupally road under the Dundigal police station area on Wednesday. There was a bleeding injury on his head and apparently the assailants had also strangled him using his banian, Dundigal Inspector Y. Ramachandrudu said. Motive behind the killing and the identity of the killers was not yet established.

The body of a newborn male baby was found in an open place near a temple at Hafeezpet on Tuesday. The incident came to light when locals noticed the body wrapped in a towel and alerted the police. The body was preserved at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for identification and autopsy.

An elderly man died after he was hit by a scooter at JNTU crossroads on Tuesday. The police said Kondappa (88), a resident of Sangeetnagar, was crossing the road when the accident occurred.

In another case, Sattaiah (54) a retired railway employee, was killed after a scooter hit him at Chilkalguda crossroads on Tuesday night. He was a resident of Addagutta.
