BJP legislator joins Congress

HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Pithapuram P. Dora Babu formally joined the Congress party in the presence of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and AP Congress Committee president D. Srinivas here on Wednesday.

Coinciding with the 92nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Mr. Dora Babu and a number of his close followers from East Godavari district drove to the party headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, where they were admitted into the party. Dr. Reddy and the APCC chief hoped that Mr. Dora Babu’s entry would strengthen the Congress in Pithapuram constituency.

Speaking to reporters, the MLA said, he had decided to join the Congress as he was impressed by its development and welfare programmes.
