Artisans invited to display their lamps

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation (TNHDC) has invited traditional brass lamp manufacturers to take part in the Karthikai Deepam sale.

It will be held at its Poompuhar showroom, on Anna Salai, here from November 21 to December 13.

“For the first time, we are inviting private artisans to exhibit their wares in our showroom along with our products,” TNHDC chairman and managing director. R. Rajagopal told The Hindu. Over 1,000 different varieties of traditional lamps ranging from ‘Agal vilaku’ to 7-foot brass lamp manufactured by the Corporation will be put on sale.
