55 get welfare assistance

Tuticorin: P. Geetha Jeevan, Minister for Social Welfare, distributed welfare measures to the tune of Rs.20 lakh to 55 beneficiaries at the 55th All India Cooperative Week celebrations here on Wednesday.

She gave away shields to 18 societies for good performance through cooperative banks and 36 school students received prizes for winning in oratorical and essay writing competitions.

Mayor R. Kasthuri Thangam, P. Anbarasu, District Revenue Officer, S. Senthamzh Selvi, Special officer, District Central Cooperative Bank, R. Sasitharan, Deputy Registrar, M. Muthusamy, Special officer, District Central Cooperative Store and P. Malraj, Special officer, Tuticorin Melur cooperative Bank, were present.
