Probe to be comprehensive “All is not well with college” CHENNAI: Stating that all is not well with the administration of the Dr.Ambedkar Government Law College here, the Madras High Court on Thursday asked the Advocate-General (AG) to go into the functioning of the institution and its hostel in some detail. The First Bench comprising Chief Justice A.K.Ganguly and Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla requested AG G. Masilamani to devote his entire time on Friday (tomorrow), Saturday and Sunday by holding the enquiry which would be comprehensive. He would go into every aspect of the running of the institution, including the composition of its faculty members, the money the college received for its expenditure, the way it was spent, the number of staff members and teachers, their qualifications and the facilities extended to students. the role played by the Principal, the suspended and the present one, in maintaining the academic atmosphere. The Bench passed the interim order on the petitions filed in connection with the clash in the college on November 12. The court referred to Police Commissioner K. Radhakrishnan’s affidavit in which it was stated that steps had been taken to arrest all the accused concerned in various cases involving college students earlier also. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
